Host and Founder of affectingchange
I’m Sandra, a Certified Passive House Designer, designer, and founder of Affecting Change. For more than 15 years, I’ve worked alongside architects, engineers, and building owners to create spaces that are sustainable, resilient, and people-centered.
But the truth is, this work isn’t just about buildings—it’s about people. I am a neurodiverse female living with a serious rare disease, and I know how much the built environment can either support people like me, or hold us back.
And it's overwhelming to push for change in a world that often resists it. This podcast was born out of that tension—and out of joy.
When I recently spoke at a gathering of design and policy professionals, I remembered how much I love being in conversation with others who care deeply about the future of our built environment. It reminded me of the energy I get from connecting with people who are both brilliant and deeply human.
Creating Spaces for Change is my way of holding those conversations in the open. Together, we’ll talk about the tough design decisions shaping our world—and the creativity, hobbies, and personal sparks that keep us going when the work feels heavy.
